Medallia acquires Fields Healthcare Research

November 26, 2021

US customer experience management specialist Medallia acquired patient experience specialist Fields Healthcare Research for an undisclosed amount.

Started by Donna Fields in 1973, Fields Healthcare Research is a CAHPS data collection company approved by CMS (“Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services” and “Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems”). The company captures both real-time signals and experience feedback from CAHPS.

After the purchase, Fields will be managed as a subsidiary of Medallia and will continue as an authorized supplier to CAHPS, led by his company president, Donna’s son Ken Fields (pictured). Medallia, recently approved by CMS as a supplier to administer the HCAHPS (Hospital CAHPS) surveys, says the purchase will allow the healthcare industry to combine Medallia’s real-time signal capture capabilities with the survey portfolio de Fields and AHPS ‘experience in administering patient surveys.

Julie Classen, MSN, RN, Director of Regulatory and Clinical Programs at Medallia, adds, “This milestone aligns with Medallia’s vision of holistically capturing patient feedback across the continuum of care, while still satisfying important regulatory requirements. This will allow Medallia to rapidly accelerate our healthcare footprint, providing a more transparent solution for our customers to capture early and late signals throughout their patient journey. ”
