Reporter NEET UG to August, medical aspirants launch online petition

Claiming that the current National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) dates are causing them a lot of stress, medical aspirants across India are calling for the postponement of the entrance exam. Students want NEET UG 2022 to be held in August. After a series of online protests, a section of students launched an online petition demanding a postponement.

“We have to go through immense stress and mental pressure as we hardly have time to prepare for the exam which will determine our future, reads the online petition. A few hours after its launch, it has already collected more than 1000 signatures supporting the cause.

“NEET-UG 2021 Council just ended in March, then NEET-UG 2022 is scheduled for July. How to revise such a vast program in just 3 months? Additionally, other important exams like Board Exams, CUCET and JEE Mains are also scheduled around the same time. Imagine the trauma and pressure we students have to go through with all those important exams scheduled one after another! Is this a fair decision? said the petitioner.

“The NEET-UG 2022 exam will determine the future of hundreds of thousands of Indian students, help us to perform at our very best!” he added.

NEET 2022 is scheduled to take place on July 17. The CBSE 12 exam ends on June 15. Students say it gives them very less time to prepare. Also, for other entries like JEE Main, the dates have been postponed after protests also when there are multiple attempts at the exam. For NEETs, students claim there is only one attempt, so their demands must also be heard. Students should take to social media platforms, including Twitter, to submit their applications with the hashtags #postponeneetug2022 and #ReschduleNEETUG2022. Here is what the students have to say:
