Southeast Georgia Health System Welcomes New Director of Human Resources
Richard “Rick” Grooms has been named the Director of Human Resources for the Southeast Georgia Health System, effective June 20, 2022.
Grooms areas of responsibility will include human resources, organizational development and education, clinical education, and health and wellness promotion.
“Rick has over 30 years of human resources experience in the healthcare industry,” says Scott Raynes, MBA, MA, President and CEO, Southeast Georgia Health System. “We look forward to his contributions and leadership as we continue to focus on team member engagement, recruitment and retention programs, and leadership development.”
In addition to extensive experience at the executive level, Grooms has had many successful accomplishments throughout his career. They range from implementing leadership and organizational development programs, to launching team-oriented cultural improvement programs, to improving health plan benefit design and program delivery. recruitment and retention systems and new talent acquisition performance management systems.
Prior to joining the healthcare system, Grooms served as senior vice president and chief human resources officer at Centra Health, a healthcare system comprised of five hospitals and 7,500 employees headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia. Prior to Centra Health, Grooms was Director of Human Resources at AnMed Health in Anderson, South Carolina.
Grooms received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He earned a Master of Arts in Public Administration and Management from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, and he also holds a senior certification from the National Society for Human Resources Professionals (SPHR). Additionally, Grooms enjoy being heavily involved in the community by volunteering and serving and leading various boards of directors.
